Achievements
Ju-Jitsu
popularity is no more confined in Europe under the umbrella
of JJIF. The beneficiaries are from Asia, Africa, and Pan-America.
Among
the Asian countries, PAKISTAN is the first who knocked on
the door of JJIF and received full membership on the eve
of the Annual Congress - 1997, at Horgen, Switzerland.
PJJF
shown its first appearance at JJIF Summer camp 1997 at Barcelona
- Spain. Thereafter a series of activities had been initiated
by the PJJF and successfully managed, such as national championships,
Participation in international training camps as well as
the championships. Pakistan got privilege to become the
first country in Asia to have the qualified international
and continental referees.
Ju-Jitsu
as sports, as per rules of JJIF is being introduced at the
grass root level during Summer Vacation in schools and colleges
by the PJJF. The rapid popularity was visible during the
National Championship 1997 as well as the Federation's Cup
Tournament, which event was telecasted live by the National
Television.
This
is all made possible due to the dedication and untiring
efforts of a yound man born in the year 1963 in a beautiful
city of Pakistan, called "Lahore". He is a lawyer
by profession and certainly he is no-one else than the President
of Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation, "MR. KHALIL AHMED
KHAN". He is a true gentleman, sportsman and a highly
qualified person in Pakistan. Mr. Khan's contribution in
the past in promoting sports of Judo in Pakistan, is without
question.
His
personal contribution is establishing the PJJF and promoting
Ju-Jitsu in Pakistan were rewarded by the General Council
of PJJF in its meeting held on 24-08-97.
In
lieu of the Article XIII of the Constitution of PJJF, he
has been elected as "Life -President of PJJF".
The
board of JJIF also in recognition of his services, has bestowed
on him the task of promotion Ju-Jitsu in Asia and to commission
/convene a meeting of the Asian Ju-Jitsu Union (AJJU).
The
ball has been set rolling and a meeting is scheduled to
be held in the month of Sept 2002 in Pakistan under the
chairmanship of the President of JJIF.
A
first ever Training Camp and Referee Seminar of Asia is
also going to be held in the month of Sept 2002 in Pakistan.
This
would be followed by the 1st Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship
Wherein all member countries of Asia will show their excellence
of skill for getting top position on medal stand.
The art of Ju-Jitsu has also been introduced officially
in Pakistan Army by the untiring efforts of PJJF.
Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation is the first country in Asia
to have International as well as Continental Qualified Referees
duly approved and Examined by JJIF. They are Mr. Babar Ismail
(ex-General Secreatary PJJF ) and Mr. Kazim Ali Changezi
the Sports Director of PJJF.
